Lose weight, Keep off weight

Need to lose weight? Need tips of keeping it off when you do? Need tips on general fitness requirements?Ok, what makes me an expert? I know I’m not, but I do read and research and I have lost a lot of weight and have kept it off for 2 years and counting. I’ll put up some before and after pics here soon hehehe. So might as well share what I’ve learned. So what have I learned in terms of how: ‘to lose weight’, ‘to keep it off’,’general fitness’.

Well the number one requirement on losing weight, I guess, is that you be at least a little reasonable. This means you’re not pigheaded when faced with the truth or not to take things too far when doing the ‘right’ thing. Then in terms of keeping it off after losing weight, the next minimum requirement is a little discipline to build on , which you’ve already gained anyway when you managed to lose weight.

So, what next? Let’s get out of the way some very basic, inescapable facts about losing weight and keeping off weight.
  • Number one: “You cannot escape the tyranny of calories when trying to lose weight or trying to keep off weight.” You do not need to count them but you better really understand the very basic fact that you have to consume quite less than what you normally use day – to-day, IF you want to lose weight OR keep it off.
  • Number two: “Exercise is a very good tool in losing weight but it never beats fixing your attitude towards eating”, that is if you want to lose weight and keep it off in any kind of permanent way.
  • Number three: “Never deprive yourself of anything you like to eat, moderation is key.” This means you can eat lechon or that sumptuous chocolate cake just not everyday or every two days for that matter, see fact #1.Note: our context is “lose weight, and keep it off.” If your doctor says you can’t eat something because of some other condition then you deprive yourself of that, tough.

My story? I managed to lose weight, about at least 75 lbs and have kept it off, without backbreaking exercise(the most I’ve done is walk) or depriving myself of food I like to eat(in fact I’ve never enjoyed food as much as far as I can remember). And I lost most of that weight in the first 10 months, I got visible results in the first two months. Oh I almost forgot, our time context will not be days or weeks, it will be months and years but of course what we do in those days and weeks will dictate what will happen in the months and years.

And so this blog begins, I plan to put in articles here at least once a week but will target once a day or every other day. Wish me luck and I hope to get feedback from you guys.
